The rule that makes every bomber outfit work
A bomber ends at the hip with a ribbed hem that pulls in. Whatever you wear underneath should either stop above that hem (a cropped tee, a tucked shirt) or run well past it (a slip dress, a long knit). Anything that ends at the same point as the hem bunches and reads as a mistake.
Weekend
- Black bomber, high-waist straight jeans, white tee tucked in, retro sneakers. The tuck keeps the waist visible under the ribbed hem.
- Brown bomber, cream wide-leg cords, a striped long-sleeve, and loafers. Warm on warm, with the trousers doing the volume.

Three things to avoid
- A belt on the outside of a bomber. The ribbed hem already defines the waist.
- A skirt or trouser waistband that sits exactly at the hem line.
- Two heavy textures at once. Leather plus tweed plus shearling reads as costume; pick one partner.
