A genuine leather bomber jacket for women is made from real leather, but the phrase is less specific than it sounds. On a label, "genuine leather" names a grade rather than a promise of quality: it is the lower, fibrous layers of a split hide, coated and embossed with a printed grain, and it sits below top-grain and full-grain in the usual grading.

The three jackets below are each described by the supplier as 100% genuine leather: the Roselyn Crimson Rib Bomber in red, the Noctelle Zipline Bomber in black and the Aurelia Amber Utility Jacket in amber. We tell you that plainly so you can compare them fairly with jackets sold as full-grain or top-grain, which usually cost more. For the full comparison of the four grades, read genuine leather vs full-grain.

Buying guide
The three jackets are cut differently. The Roselyn is relaxed and contemporary, the Noctelle has a contemporary silhouette with a ribbed collar, cuffs and waistband, and the Aurelia is structured with an elasticated hem. Each is currently available in one size: 2XL for the Roselyn, L for the Noctelle and S for the Aurelia.
Whichever you choose, the hem should sit around the hip and the shoulder seam on the bone at the top of your arm. Use the size guide with your own measurements, and if you are between sizes at the bust, go up. A stylist will go through your size on a free 15-minute call before you order.
Pick by how you dress. Black Noctelle goes over almost everything, from tailored trousers to jeans and a white tee. The red Roselyn is a one-colour statement over quiet clothes, and the amber Aurelia warms up denim, cream and olive.
If you want black but in a different cut, the black leather bomber jackets page covers the cropped Noir Arden and the made-to-order L-Khat as well. If you are weighing a bomber against a moto style, bomber vs moto explains the differences in cut, hardware and formality.
You can often tell leather grades apart in the hand. Full-grain shows irregular pores and small marks, while a perfectly even, printed-looking texture usually means embossed split or top-grain. Press a thumb into it: full-grain wrinkles finely and springs back, whereas split hide creases more like cardboard.
Check a raw edge inside a pocket or at the hem too. Full-grain has a tight, dense fibre, and split shows a loose, suede-like fuzz. A label that says only "genuine leather" with no grade named usually points to split hide. Whatever the grade, keep the jacket dry, condition it once or twice a year and keep it on a wide hanger; the leather care guide explains how.

Book a Free FittingYes. It is real hide, but it is the split lower layers, coated and embossed with a printed grain. It is a lower grade than top-grain or full-grain leather.
The supplier describes them as 100% genuine leather and does not state a grade, so we do not call them full-grain. If the grade matters to you, ask a stylist before you order.
